Bò Lá Lốt, AKA Vietnam in a mouthful

We are very happy to introduce you to the first ‘cheat meal’ of the blog: the Bò Lá Lốt at Quán Ăn Cô Liêng. Cheat, because of the price – a bit to high to be classified as a real cheap eat, even in Ho Chi Minh (70,000 Dong). The recent showcase on Netflix series “Somebody Feeds Phil” could have hiked the price up, however the outrageous flavours are undeniable and it deserves to be talked about.

For just over $3, you can experience a Vietnamese national treasure. Displayed in front of us: 5 pieces of aromatic grilled beef wrapped in wild betel leaf, a mountain of fresh herbs and salad, the famous rice pancakes, pickled vegetables and a delicious pineapple and chili dipping sauce (supposedly, as the recipe is a well kept secret).

One of the best thing about this dish, apart from its amazing taste, is the enjoyment of constructing it yourself. Food DIY at its finest.

IN SHORT – An unmissable Vietnamese specialty to share (one serving of 5 Bò Lá Lốt should be enough as a light meal for 2 – with maybe a dessert afterwards)!

Price: 70,000 Dong / £2.3 / 2.6€ / $3
Taste: 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Location: Quán Ăn Cô Liêng
