Banh Mi Phuong is one of those places, which, despite its phenomenal success and fame, still serves amazing sandwiches for less than 1 dollar. When you arrive, don’t be discouraged by the queue, as half of it is locals waiting for their take away Banh Mi. Squeeze past and it is most likely that a table will be available.
The Banh Mi at Banh Mi Phuong is, in our opinion, the best sandwich we’ve ever had. Why? Imagine the deliciousness of a traditional French baguette (crispy on the edges, soft on the inside) and a filling bursting with Vietnamese flavours. The best of the two worlds, really.
We tried the mixed option (priced at 25,000 Dong) and the barbecue one (20,000 Dong). First observation: the perfectly baked baguette. This was, and remains the best bread we’ve tried in Vietnam so far. Both fillings were amazing, but the barbecue just edged it: the herbs (coriander, mainly), the quality of the beef and the perfect balance of chili. Every bite was pure enjoyment.
IN SHORT – Banh Mi is a typical dish from Vietnam as a whole but you will find the very best one in Hoi An!
