Yep, you read that correctly…
Before you sharpen your pitchforks, we need to mention that Ca Phe Trúng, aka egg coffee, is easily one of the tastiest drinks we’ve ever tried. Though you’re probably wondering why it exists in the first place…
Created in the 1940’s due to a shortage of fresh milk, whisked egg yolk was used as substitute with coffee and instantly became popular with locals and visitors. Now arguably the most famous beverage in the city, most people head to the apparent creators at Cafe Giang to get their fix.
While the exact recipe is a secret, it apparently combines condensed milk and butter with the egg yolk to create the creamy textured foam. This sits on top of some amazing Vietnamese coffee to create a truly unique sweet drink.
And no, it doesn’t taste like egg!
IN SHORT – An amazingly tasty drink that we can’t believe isn’t on every Starbucks menu around the world.
